Mission: To improve the community both within and beyond the school through youth coordinated projects.

Dragons in Action

Dragons In Action is the YSB's Youth Advisory Council. The group focuses on youth leadership, empowerment and community service. Students are encouraged to develop their own community services projects, which they will coordinate and manage around issues of importance to them. Students are responsible for all aspects of the events including coordinating with other community agencies, recruiting volunteers and overseeing budgets. The group meets every Monday afterschool in Middletown High School's Media Center. New members are welcome to join at anytime. Since the group's inception in March of 2006, they have coordinated and/or participated in the following activities:

  • White Out Day/Night
  • Easter Celebration with the Village at South Farms
  • Brown Bag Decorating (drunk driving prevention effort with the Wine Cellar)
  • Hosted !MPACT presentation for Juniors and parents around the issue of driving safety
  • Chalk Walk for Senior Prom
  • Relay for Life
  • College Pressures Workshop
  • Halloween Party with I Have A Friend Youth Center
  • Toy Drive for I Have A Friend Youth Center
  • New Years Eve White Out Night on Main Street with M'town Sub. Abuse Prev. Council
  • Valentine's Day Celebration with Cross Street Training and Academic Center
  • Coordination of Help Wanted Community Service Board at MHS
  • Polaroid Project (Developmental Assets awareness project)
  • Collaborative partner in the Racial Unity Forums at Middletown High School
