Thomas Edison Middle School

The Thomas Edison Magnet school lottery for the 2010-11 school year will be held January 21, 2010.

All selected and waitlisted student applicants will be notified by mail no later than January 26, 2010.

The Thomas Edison Middle School, located in Meriden, CT, is an interdistrict magnet school serving Meriden, Middletown, Madison, Region 13, and Wallingford.  The school, open since September 2001, has received favorable reviews and offers cutting-edge science, math, and technology education.

Approximately 140 Middletown students, Grades 6-8, attend Thomas Edison.  Every November, letters and applications are sent to all parents/guardians of fifth-grade students inviting them to apply for admission.  All students have an equal chance since selection is made by a lottery held in January of each year.  Those students not selected have their names put on a waiting list which remains active for three years.

Transportation is provided by the Middletown Public Schools.

During December, an informal meeting to answer questions is held in Middletown and an open house is scheduled at the Thomas Edison Middle School.
