 SCHOOL CLOSING INFORMATION

When the Middletown Public Schools are closed for the day, have a delayed opening, or have an early dismissal as the result of deteriorating weather conditions or other emergencies, the radio, television stations and website listed below will be notified and announcements made by approximately 5:15 a.m.

THE MIDDLETOWN PUBLIC SCHOOLS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: 

All Middletown Public Schools, (including Special Education), Elementary Parochial Schools, Vinal Technical School, and Fellowship Christian School.

NO SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT: 

A NO school closing announcement means that there will be NO TRANSPORTATION to the above named schools, as well as out-of-town schools, after-school, and evening activities.

DELAYED SCHOOL OPENINGS:

School will begin 1½ hours later than normal, and all school transportation will arrive approximately 1½ hours later.  (Example: if your child is normally picked up at 7:15 a.m., he will be picked up at approximately 8:45 a.m.).  This includes “out of town” transportation.  If travel conditions fail to improve, it is possible that schools may NOT open – please continue to listen to your radio/TV station for updates.

                                                                                                           

 

EARLY DISMISSAL: 

Announcements that Middletown Public Schools will dismiss early on a particular day will be announced on the radio, television, and on our website listed on the front page.

PRESCHOOL: 

When there is a 1½ hour delay there will be NO morning preschool sessions. The afternoon preschool will be picked up at the normal time.  In the event of an early dismissal, the afternoon preschool sessions will be cancelled.

Should you have questions about these procedures, your school principal will be happy to answer them for you.  Remember, your first call should be to your son/ daughter’s school.

DATTCO TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, INC. – 635-8234

 IF A BUS/ VEHICLE CANNOT COMPLETE ITS ROUTE DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS, IT WILL:

  • Keep all students on the vehicle while a call is made for assistance or return all of the remaining students back to their schools
  • The principal and designated staff members will remain at the school until the Transportation Office calls the school and informs the principal that the routes are completed and the buses are clear

 

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL CHILDREN BE LEFT OFF AT ANY LOCATION OTHER THAN THEIR DAILY STOP
