Parenting

Mission Statement   The mission of the Middletown Even Start program is to ombine early childhood education, adult literacy instruction, parenting education and community resources to provide a comprehensive educational program that will improve family literacy, helping parents to reach their full potential and become partners in their children's education.

Course Objectives   The Even Start Parenting Education Program helps to educate and inform parents on issues regarding parenting.  Parenting classes provide the opportunity to study and discuss topics related to being a parent, to form a mutual support network, to learn about community services available to families, and to develop lasting friendships.  Parents will attend these parenting sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-2:30 while their children are in the childcare setting.  Even Start participants are required to attend parenting classes and may receive Adult Education credit for their participation.  Lunch is provided for Even Start families on days when parenting classes are scheduled.
