Middletown High School proudly announces that they will once again present “Middletown High Goes to the Symphony” on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Bushnell Center for the Arts in Hartford. The students performing with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra are current members of the Middletown High School Concert Band, String Orchestra, and Concert Chorus. There will also be student soloists performing at this concert. Winners of the soloist competition held on January 4, 2017  at the Middletown High School Performing Arts Center will be announced

This unique educational and cultural event was introduced in 1995 and has grown to become a major cultural activity of the greater Middletown community. Due to the growing number of students participating, the size of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra itself and the number of friends, family, and community members attending, this program has partnered with the Bushnell Center for the Arts in Hartford, a major cultural and theatrical venue, as host. We are pleased to also announce that Maestro William Boughton of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Edward Cumming, University of Hartford Orchestra Professor and Neely Bruce, Wesleyan University Professor of Music, will share the podium during this musical event, demonstrating the tie between the high school, local University and the community.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the MHS musicians to study, attend master classes, attend sectional rehearsals, receive coaching and practice alongside with the professionals. And as in the past, the finale will lift you right out of your seat.

The chance to study and perform with professional musicians is an aspiring young musician’s dream. Please help make that dream a reality by supporting Middletown High School Goes to the Symphony with a financial contribution.  Thank you.
