Middletown Public Schools Preschool Program

Middletown Public Schools Preschool Program offers preschool to three and four year old Middletown residents. The program follows the Middletown Public Schools school year calendar.

All Preschool classes are Monday through Friday.

There are 4 part-day classes (2.5 hours) for 3 and 4 year olds at Snow School.  3 year olds attend the morning session and 4 year olds attend the afternoon session.

There are also 3 school day classes (6 hours) for 4 year olds located at Snow School, Spencer School, and Bielefield School.  The school day program is by lottery only.

Family’s preschool fee will be determined based on the Office of Early Childhood’s Sliding Fee scale. Transportation is available based on income.

Part Day Preschool Enrollment Timeline

Applications will be taken beginning March 1, 2022 for part day preschool at Snow School for 3 and 4 year old children residing in Middletown for the 2022-2023 school year.  There is no deadline for enrollment, applications are taken on a first come first serve basis.

In order for your child's application to be processed, you need to do the following…

  • Complete a preschool online registration, see "Preschool On-Line Registration" below
  • Upload or mail the required documents:
    • Tax forms (federal 1040)
    • Current immunization and health forms (CT Early Childhood Health Record)
    • Copy of child's birth certificate (full length copy)
    • Proof of residency (copy of rent, mortgage statement, or lease)
    • Copy of health insurance card
    • Copy of Parent ID

Mail application documents to:
Middletown Board of Education
Pupil Services Office
311 Hunting Hill Avenue
Middletown, CT 06457

Parents will be notified in mid- to late-April regarding the status of their child's application.  Once your child's required paperwork is completed, you will be notified of the monthly fee, whether your child qualifies for transportation, and if your child is accepted into the program.  Students are enrolled in the order that their application is completed.   Acceptance is not final until the first payment is received.  First payments are due by 8/1/2022.  The Board of Education will continue to accept applications throughout the summer. Your child will be placed on the waiting list as the program fills.

School Day Preschool Lottery Timeline

The lottery for school day (6 hours) spots at Snow, Spencer, and Bielefield will open for 4 year old residents of Middletown on Tuesday March 1, 2022 and will close on Friday April 1, 2022.  Lottery entries prior to 3/1/2022 and after 4/1/2022 will not be accepted, nor will multiple entries.

Students who are being offered a placement in a school day program will be notified the week of 4/18/2022.  Please do not attempt to register before lottery results are shared, unless you are also interested in the part-day program.

As we have more children enter into the lottery than have available spots, acceptance is not guaranteed.  Families not accepted through the lottery may be placed on a waiting list and/or may apply for the part-day program.

Family’s preschool fee will be determined based on the Office of Early Childhood’s Sliding Fee scale. Transportation will be available based on income.

Accepted families will be asked to complete their child’s registration, including first payment, by 5/6/22 or the spot will go to the next child on the waitlist.

 Preschool On-Line Registration

There are three easy steps to our on-line registration.

Begin at this link: https://ecollect.accelaschool.com/Middletown#!

This link is Step 1 in the registration process. Once approved at the school level, an email will be sent with important information so you will need a valid email address to proceed with registration. Once Step 1 is approved by the school you will be emailed notification of registration approval with an Access ID and Access Password to set up your student(s) in PowerSchool.

If you have NEVER created a PowerSchool account, step 2 will be to create a parent portal. Follow the instructions in the email to access PowerSchool and click “Create Account”.  Enter the required information in the top section of the page.  Use the information from the access email to complete the “Link Students to Account” section.

If you already have a parent portal account with the Middletown Public schools, please be sure to register your student with the email associated with that account.  You can add the additional student(s) to your portal using the Access ID and Password that will be sent in the above referenced email by going to your Parent Portal and clicking on Account Preference (on the left side), clicking on the Students tab (at the top), click on the Add button (on the right) and entering the Access ID and Password sent in the email.

Step 3 will be to log into your parent portal and click on Ecollect Forms located on the left.  These are the on-line registrations forms.  These forms are a requirement in order for your children to start school in Middletown

Required documents for registration can be mailed to Central Office or uploaded into the PowerSchool portal.
