There are always changes occurring so I encourage you to become familiar with the information that is available on the Bureau of Special Education website . It contains a wealth of information as well as forms such as the Referral to Special Education.

The State Education Resource Center SERC offers a wealth of resources in their library and with a wide variety of professional development opportunities that are often free for families. You may access their website at www.ctserc.org .

As permitted by law, the Middletown Board of Education will be destroying confidential special education/504 records of students that exited the district during the 2011-2012 school year and prior to the start of the 2012-2013 school year.


Confidential records include referrals to special services, PPT records, testing and evaluation documentation, correspondence with other agencies, and all other records related to special education or special services.


A parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student wanting to obtain their confidential records must contact the office of the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services at 860-638-1428 by July 31, 2018.  Records will be destroyed August 2018.
