Search Update: March 23, 2026

Dear Middletown Community, 

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to provide you with an update on our ongoing search for the next superintendent of the Middletown Public Schools. We are deeply appreciative of the input that we received from our community members, staff, students, and parents. Your feedback was instrumental in shaping the Successful Candidate Profile, which is now available for review on our district website.

The candidate profile reflects the priorities and qualities that our community is seeking in our next leader, ensuring that we find the best fit for the future of Middletown. Thank you for taking the time to participate in a focus group or for taking the time to complete the survey and share your thoughts. Your voices will be a vital contribution in guiding the selection of the next superintendent.

We have begun the interview process and remain committed to a thorough and thoughtful selection process that will bring forward the best candidate to lead our district.

Superintendent Search Process Underway

The Middletown Board of Education is searching for a new superintendent of schools.  The Middletown Board of Education has engaged the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) to assist them in the search process.  The posting to seek potential candidates was made public on January 28, 2026.

All comments from the online survey and the focus groups are considered anonymous.  NESDEC will organize the responses and will provide the Board of Education with a Successful Superintendent Candidate Profile.  Applicants to the position of Superintendent will be screened based on the dominant themes that emerge.
